Second day of touring.

Woken up as usual by the fishing charter boats engine. He warms it up at seven every morning, runs it for ten minutes and then turns it off.
A correction from yesterday,we must have Miss heard the lady about the cheese factory, they only closed the day we got there for a couple of months.
The fishing boats leave from about four am on but are a lot quieter.
Had a fashionable breakfast of juice, cereal and smashed avocado on toast.

Departed for the Middle East part of the Island,Cheroz had forgotten to get dinner out of the freezer so we pulled up to return, just happened to be the entrance to the other big golf club.We might as well do it seeing we are here.
You drive through some farm land to the coast,it is different but no less spectacular than the Northern one.
The club house is smaller but adequate for their needs, people come to play golf.

Returned to the boat and sorted out the curry.
Next stop was Naracoopa and Sea Elephant Bay.By now the early sea mist had cleared to another beautiful day .The view from the monument was quite something. They were mining the beach at the north end and the old jetty a feature at the other.A tidy town with a lot of holiday homes it seemed.
Not sure what they do with the sand, have not found out yet.

Tourists at Sea Elephant Bay.

Back in the Rav and headed for Grassy Harbour. The size of the Harbour surprised us ,really quite big,the actual port takes up a lot of room on land but the small boat part is quite picturesque, the sailing club has a clubhouse in the most sheltered part with moorings out the front, there is a race from Victoria next week advertised on the window. They must anchor out when they arrive.

Back in the buzzbomb and headed for the lookout on higher ground and the town proper, the view of the old sheelite mine surprised us,the size of the hole is enormous, not used any more but some one  gets the towns hopes up every now and then, there is a pump running to keep the water down.
Toured around the houses and pulled up at the little shop for a bite of lunch, many photos of the old days. The town surely was jumping,I think is said somewhere they got out 240000 tons of ore one year.

Back in the car to do the southern part,Seal Rocks and Stokes Point. You do not realize how big this Island is until you start driving around.
Spectacular views at both places, perhaps Seal rocks the best.
Passed the kelp truck near Stokes point.Saw a farmers trailer with a load of sand on it,a lady we spoke to at Naracoopa said they spread it on the grasslands, don't know about that, most of the area seems to be sand dunes with grass on top.

Seal Rocks looking north.

Returned to the pub for a round and then our curry meal.
Biggs now right into the Tablet business, gets a bit frustrated at times.
Rod sent us some spots on the west coast above Strahan,we hope to have a couple of days pottering around there when we leave,at this stage the weather looks ok.
